First team players have missed over 120 games through injury this season
That is an average of 4-5 players missing for every single league game.

Here's the list of games missed

Song - 13 games
Lanzini - 13 games
Payet - 7 games
Moses - 7 games
Reid - 9 games
Ogbonna - 5 games
Carroll - 12 games
Valencia - 15 games
Sakho - 17 games
O'Brien - 24 games

Total lost - 122 games

It just shows how great a job Bilic has done coping with that this season.

according to those tables from the last four seasons we were 6th, 9th, 11th and 10th (this season).

you've looked at the exact same tables and come out with 'we're always at the top or in the top 5 or 6'

i give up

Just saying
Ours are significant because we have less resources and it does seem an ongoing problem season after season.
Said earlier in the thread we need to make a decision about certain players as we can't progress with some who are incapable of playing 3 games in a row.

That's ok then, Sven.

Our ones are now insignificant.

Re: First team players have missed over 120 games through injury this season
Certain clubs Arsenal, villa, man u, newcastle and us are always at the top or in the top 5 or 6.clubs like Everton ans Spurs are top 6 one season and bottom 6 the next.
Also factor in the championship sides who come and go so it's not the same 20 sides each season in the list to compare. Factor in thar Arse and Man u play a lot more games than us due to Europe and that leaves us with Villa and Newcastle two of the worst run clubs in the ln
league.
Point is even in those tables put up to prove that we are not the worst for injuries, we are right up there.

I see DeGea went down with a knee injury prematch & Man Utd now have 14 first team squad players injured.

Yes, I recall us playing regularly without an entire defence

Re: First team players have missed over 120 games through injury this season
The theme in those tables are newcastle, man u, villa and us always near the top and they do not take into account the frequency and ammount of reccuring injuries to key players and entire attacks or defences at once.

If footballers were paid per match played, this statistic would halve at a stroke.

I think the plethora of excellent players in Chelsea's squad is the main reason for their lower than most injury list. Obviously rotating said players is a luxury not afforded to all clubs but Chelsea seem to do this very well.

My dad, a postman, worked with an ex Tottenham player from the fifties. He was basically a cripple; ankle, knees, hips .all shot
Thats what happened back then, I think we look after our players better now

That's the three years since we've been back up, we'll finish mid-table (possibly top 8) of this season too. I could go further back and it will no doubt show similar results. Those tables show that, whilst we've not been lucky with injuries, there are clubs worse off than us. Newcastle have been top of the injury list 3 of the last seasons - i wouldn't have guessed that either because, like you no doubt, i've not got much interest in what goes on up there.

Admittedly, they don't take into account the importance of the players injured but i doubt any table could figure that out accurately.

I know that we have had an injury crisis / lengthy injury list every season for years and that the only club who compares is Arsenal as I said.

People have short memories.

I don't doubt you remember all the injuries we've had over the years.

I'd be surprised if you have decent knowledge of all other club's injury history though.

Why don't you post up the stats to prove it then? Should be easy enough as we're the unluckiest club ever

Re: First team players have missed over 120 games through injury this season
DIFFERNCE IS THIS HAS HAPPENED TO US EVERY SEASON FOR AROUND 10 YEARS.
The only other Prem club who have similar shit every season is Arsenal but I doubt it's been going on as long.

Sick of idiots saying it's normal and posting up the current injury table as if that proves it.
